New Year's Resolutions

I guess one of my New Year's resolutions should be to try and keep this blog going as an accompaniment to the photoblog.

I'd like to share more of my thoughts about the photos I'm taking and the photos I'd like to take.

Another New Year's resolution is to enhance my knowledge of photography in general - in particular through broadening my photographic horizons by learning about the work of other photographers. With this in mind, if anyone has any photographic art book recommendations I'd be delighted to hear from you.

Simon, just got to know your enterprise, congrats, great pix!

There's a very good reference for photography that worths sharing: Taschen books (taschen.com). Photo Icons and A History of Photography are books that is always good to have on a shelf for regular use.

Try also Phaidon (phaidon.com). Good stuff available.

But if you are into the very classic titles in photography, try Henri Cartier-Bresson or Brassaï. Plenty to learn from them two. Enough for an year, maybe.

Thanks for taking the time to give me these pointers - apologies for the delay in my reply.

I'll check out that History of Photography book you mentioned. I recently bought what it possibly a similar book, The Photo Book - which is from Phaidon.

Obviously I've heard of Cartier-Bresson, but I must admit I haven't heard of Brassaï - will look him up.
